The romantic in me loves to add a whimsical edge to my designs as it enables me to spin a magical and mystical twist to things. This really does excite the senses and creates real drama and feeling to a space. There’s also nothing like a touch of playfulness to keep things relaxed and cheerful.
The concept
For this board I have chosen a whimsical but edgy female image, which oozes glamour and mystic in equal measures. I have then added one of Joel Robison’s wonderful and amusing conceptual portraiture images as a witty element to this board. And I couldn’t resist the allure of this Daydreamer candle description…

The Colours
A smoky blend of blue and green gives way to a mystical teal, which when teamed with rich mulberry and gold creates a decadent and heady mix.

Textures & acoutrements
The starting point for this scheme was this rich and mischievious wallpaper by Blackpop, one of my favourite wallpaper and fabric design companies. This one is ‘Henry’ from the range inspired by the National Portrait Gallery ‘The Tudor collection – Deconstructed’ I love their edgy take on historical portraits of the past.
I can see this scheme working really well in a formal dining room dripping with a cut glass chandelier and some quirky accessories like this faux taxidermy gold unicorn head from Audenza
