A mood board for the emerging season

Posted on

I’m always inspired by the changing seasons and all the new things that brings both in nature and design. However the transition from one season to another is often subtle. I’m not quite feeling the full drama of Autumn just yet, with it’s rich fiery reds, yellows and oranges, rather I’m sensing it’s emergence…

Nature & Fashion

It’s hard for me not to think of nature this time of year, the flourish of food harvests before the winter sets in and the last flush of lavender fading in the garden and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Add to that my passion for fashion and whats new for Autumn/Winter 2018/19 and a theme emerges…

The Colours

I love the new rich brown that I’m seeing on the catwalk, this is a colour that will take us right through the Autumn/Winter season. Pair this with a pastel lilac, now hailed as one of  the ‘new neutrals’ and you have the perfect seasonal transitional colour palette. Darker hues of gold and purple add richness and depth.

The textures

The new range of fabrics by Prestigious Textiles known as Lost Horizon have the perfect moody hues and textures for this mood board. Sumptuous velvets and linens are embellished with digital printing and embroidery of painted landscapes with warm oriental influences.

Coloured faux fur is back on the catwalk and lends it’s style perfectly to sheepskin throws. Add to this some essential velvet in a chocolate brown, perhaps via some full drapes with heavy bullion fringe and a touch of snakeskin texture that is oh so ‘on trend’ and you have a scheme that will take your through Autumn/winter and beyond.
